Fruit exports from Mexico up 4.7 percent

From January to May 2023, the volume of fruit exports from Mexico increased 4.7 percent year-on-year. It reached to 1,887.000 tons, but their commercial value dropped 5 percent to 4,591 million dollars.

The fruits that recorded an increase in their exported volume, in order of importance, were: walnuts (63 percent), avocado (46.2 percent), guava (26.6 percent), berries (15.8 percent), lemon (12.2 percent) and pineapple (11.9 percent). The was also an increase in the value of sales of guava (57.2 percent), strawberry (21.2 percent), pineapple (12.9 percent), papaya (12.2 percent), walnut (11.6 percent), mango (8.1 percent), banana (5 percent) and berries (4 percent).

More broadly, fruit and vegetable exports from January to May 2023 increased in volume 7.9 percent over 2022, while in value terms they increased 0.6 percent.
