Plum fruit eater larva found among the fruit batch

21 tons of infected apricots were brought to the Russian from Kazakhstan

In a batch of 21 tons of apricots imported into the Sverdlovsk region, a plum fruit eater larva was discovered. Quarantine service experts reported the low quality of fresh fruit on their official website.

Despite the presence of the pest, Rosselkhoznadzor allowed the fruits to be sold in retail outlets in the Sverdlovsk region. The agency emphasized that the larvae are not harmful to humans.

In the region, the plum fruit eater can only cause damage to plum trees. This pest disrupts the vascular system of the plum, halting the movement of vital substances necessary for the plant's survival. Due to the intervention of the pest, the fruit's growth is stunted.
