Enza Zaden will hold the event from June 26 to July 7 at its El Albujón testing grounds

The Melon House Fair 2023 is back in Murcia

This edition of Enza Zaden's Melon House Fair will focus on taste, consistency, supply throughout the year, and resistance. Along with these issues, the seed house also seeks to respond to the challenges of the sector such as sustainability, productive efficiency, and the reduction of labor costs.

Resistances that make the difference
“Resistances make a difference” is a common value proposition for Enza Zaden. Resistant varieties have become more important as they are a key element in producing healthier, residue-free crops. However, they also present advantages to all actors in the value chain as their fruit has better quality, a continuous supply, and there is a higher probability they are marketed

“During the Melon House Fair, Enza Zaden will showcase its programs in Piel de Sapo, Yellow, and Galia melons that stand out because of the availability of varieties with resistance to powdery mildew and aphid. The company will also showcase some melons with these resistances in Piel de Sapo, Corrales; in Galia, Maioral, and in Yellow, Ambatar, which is incorporated with Ambarino, for the transplants of La Mancha and Murcia. Enza Zaden's current program has Cantaloupe and Charentais varieties that are resistant to aphids. During the Melon House Fair, the company will present its first Cantaloupe variety with double resistance to powdery mildew and aphids.”

365-day-a-year supply and assured flavor and consistency
The seed house not only offers a high yield, year-round programs, and fruits with an excellent post-harvest but also great flavor and consistency.

“Among other novelties in other melon varieties, we must highlight Enza Zaden's novelties in Italian Netted, Charentais, and Fully Netted. The Italian Netted program has novelties such as Promoteo, which offers the sweet and traditional flavor sought by Italian families. In Charentais, the aroma and flavor of its program have two great novelties: Bodelice and Pleiade. In Fully Netted, people will be able to discover the company's new additions to its portfolio: Kapaz and Kamel, both of which are characterized by their crisp flesh, great color, sweet taste, and long shelf life.”

In addition, attendees at the Melon House Fair will be able to learn about the watermelon varieties that Enza Zaden already markets in the United States, such as Rio Grande and Cracker Jack, as well as its novelty seedless mini black for Murcia and La Mancha: Tyrion.
