According to data from the World Trade Organization (WTO), Mexico displaced Spain as the world's leading exporter of strawberries.
In 2022, Mexican exports of fresh strawberries increased at a year-on-year rate of 11%, to 833 million dollars. That same year, Spanish exports fell by 14%, to 733 million dollars.
Other large exporters of strawberries in 2022 were the United States, with 596 million dollars in value and a 4% year-on-year growth, and the Netherlands with 301 million dollars and an 18% fall.
