Week 16 Wholesale Fruit Market Report

Yellow Pitaya from Ecuador is on the market along with a large number of domestic blueberries

The Ecuadorian yellow pitaya fruit, which has received much attention, has started to be sold in the fruit wholesale market this week. In addition, among the large-size fruit categories on the market, the volume of Thai durian has increased, and the price has dropped since last week. Domestic blueberries have arrived in large quantities this week, and their price has also dropped significantly.

The newly-launched Ecuadorian yellow pitaya is sold in different sizes of 2.5kg/box, 6-7-8 pieces/box and the current wholesale price is about 300 RMB per box.

The arrival of imported avocados has been increasing recently, and the price has gradually dropped from the high level when it was "out of stock" earlier. Taking a box of 24 Peruvian avocados as an example, the current price is about ¥160-¥170, down about 15%. Kenyan avocados are also on sale at slightly higher prices than Peruvian avocados.

As for imported grapes, the grapes produced in Peru, Chile and other places have gradually entered the end of their production season, and the price has dropped slightly compared with last week. It is reported that the sales of grapes last week were better than this week.

According to merchants, the situation of grapes from various origins is as follows: the overall quality and sales of green grapes this season are better than other varieties, and many merchants pay more attention to green grapes. The Chilean green grapes that arrived recently are of good quality, so the sales are relatively smooth, but some higher-priced varieties are not selling as well as expected this season. Also this season, Australian grapes came into the market late, and the taste was not yet the best in the early stage. Recently, the taste has gradually improved, and it is estimated that the taste will be more ideal next month. However, the Australian grapes with a better taste may have a certain impact on domestic Shine Muscat grapes, when they come into the market next month.

The volume of imported fruits from Thailand is gradually increasing. Among them, the price of Thailand's Monthong durian, which has attracted much attention, has gradually decreased due to the increase in volume. A box of A6 Monthong weighing 19kg was priced at about ¥750/box at the beginning of last weekend and this week, it dropped to ¥650-¥680, but it was still higher than the price of more than ¥500 in the same period last year.

Some merchants said that at the beginning of this week, when the durian price was high, more merchants came to purchase, and there were relatively fewer purchasers when the price fell later. It is understood that there is less rain in the production area in Thailand this season, so the taste of the durians currently arriving on the market is better than that of the same period last year.

Among domestic fruits, blueberries attract the most attention. Different from the slow arrival in the market last week, the volume arriving this week has increased significantly, and the price has dropped significantly. It was said, last week, that the price of large-sized fruit that sold for about ¥200/box was lowered to ¥150-¥160/box this week and the price of medium fruit was about ¥150/box, and this week it was about ¥100/box, with a large drop. The large increase in arrivals makes the sales relatively slow.

Argentinian pears

Other imported fruits on sale include Argentine pears, which sell for about ¥160 per box for a 10kg package with an ideal sales speed. Among the domestically produced seasonal fruits, Dalian cherries have been gradually reduced in price from ¥160 to ¥180 per kg at the end of last month to about ¥120/kg due to the increasing volume. Hainan Guihuaxiang lychees are currently priced at about ¥80/kg. There are also domestic seasonal fruits such as loquats and oranges on sale.
