Approximately 93.9% of Spanish blueberry production comes from Andalusia. Blueberry cultivation in Andalusia is focused almost entirely in the province of Huelva, where 99.5% of this crop is concentrated. In the 2021 campaign, the estimated area in this province has increased by 5.6%.
In 2021 : an increase in production in the province of Huelva of 27% is estimated compared to the previous year, reaching 57,836 tons. In 2020, Spain ranked first in the ranking of blueberry producers in the EU-27, with a participation quota of 35.5% (39.8% in 2019). Poland ranked as the second production country, with a share of 27.9% (25.9% in 2019). Portugal ranked third with 11.3% of production (8.26% in 2019), displacing Germany (8.3%).
In 2021, the average price of Andalusian blueberries was € 4,32 / kg. Although, this is 4.7% lower than that reached in 2020, the price has shown a "good performance taking into account that the volume traded in this last year has grown significantly".
