Seatrade launches its new “country class” reefer container vessels

M.v. "Seatrade Chile", the first of a series of six specialized reefer container vessels, set sail for her maiden voyage. Delivered to owners on the 20th of March at Huanghai shipyard in China, m.v. Seatrade Chile set sail to her first load port Ningbo.

The vessel is unique of its kind with 640 reefer plugs and an additional power generator installed for the extended reefer capacity. The vessel has been built according to the latest optimized hydrodynamic hull design with an S-Bow and twisted bulb rudder making it the most fuel-efficient ship in its segment at the moment.

With a strong focus on reefer cargoes, the vessel is equipped with maintenance bridges and operated at a service speed at design draft of 18,7 knots. Both main and auxiliary engines are Tier 3 compliant. The vessel holds the green passport as well as a clean ship and methanol prepared notation. As from the next delivery (m.v. Seatrade Peru, September 2024), deck cranes will be installed as well.

"With the new Country Class Seatrade is increasing its modern reefer capacity rapidly and is aiming for further improvement of its liner services and ever-growing demand for high reefer intake. The new vessels will be a welcome addition to the Fast, Direct and Dedicated tailored service Seatrade provides to its customers," notes Yntze Buitenwerf
Chairman Seatrade Group of Companies.
