Bill Gates' farm among suppliers of potatoes for McDonald's fries

Bill Gates owns a farm in Washington state that produces potatoes for McDonald's French fries, a fact confirmed by Snopes and acknowledged on McDonald's website. This connection showcases Gates' land, 100 Circle Farms, as a supplier for the fast-food chain.

Acquired in 2018, the farm contributes to McDonald's potato supply but is not its sole provider, debunking the exaggeration that all McDonald's fries come exclusively from Gates' farm. Lamb Weston, which processes the potatoes grown by 100 Circle Farms, claimed that the farm can produce up to 2,400 tons of potatoes a day, as stated on McDonald's website. Additionally, McDonald's stated it does not source GMO potatoes, contrary to claims associated with Gates. As of June 2021, Gates, along with his now ex-wife Melinda, owned more than 269,000 acres of farmland across 18 states through their investment group, Cascade Investments.
