Panamanian pineapple finds a new market in New Zealand

New Zealand has approved an import provision for Panamanian pineapple, marking a significant development in the trade relations between Panama and New Zealand. The agreement was facilitated through rigorous inspections of Panamanian pineapple production sites by New Zealand technical inspectors, ensuring compliance with New Zealand's import requirements. This achievement is underscored by the Ministry of Agricultural Development of Panama (MIDA), which stated, "For the first time, Panamanian pineapples will arrive in Oceania, for the benefit of national pineapple producers and exporting companies."

The majority of Panama's pineapple production is concentrated in Panama Oeste, accounting for 79.6% of the total harvest, followed by Chiriquí with a 20.2% contribution.
