Avocado ripening developments, sourcing strategies and more at SEPC

Westfalia Fruit will showcase the 'Westfalia Difference' at SEPC Southern Exposure in Tampa, Florida this week. From avocado ripening innovations to sourcing strategies, it will be at booth #611 to discuss its 2024 initiatives.

Westfalia Fruit Marketing USA has avocados from five key countries of origin: California, USA, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. As a vertically integrated company, it manages the supply chain from farm to table.

March marks the return of California-grown Hass avocados and the gourmet GEM® avocado variety, with peak volumes from April through June. The creamy, culinary avocado, available for a limited time only, is eagerly awaited by avocado enthusiasts seeking the unique taste and texture that only GEM avocados can offer.

Westfalia Fruit operates state-of-the-art packinghouses and storage facilities in Chile, Colombia and Peru to focus on supplying premium avocados to global markets. Colombia, renowned for its rich soils and optimal growing conditions, will offer a consistent supply of avocados from May through August. The Colombian avocado season is expected to peak at 60s and smaller—promising promotable volumes of medium and small-sized fruit. From the verdant groves of Peru, the avocado season commences in July and extends through September. Avocados sourced from Mexico will continue to see consistent supply year-round across all sizes and grades.
