Abdul Gani Vakil raises concerns over neglect of Kashmir's fruit industry

At a party workers convention in Tujar Sharief Zainageer, Abdul Gani Vakil, Senior Vice President of J&K Peoples Conference and former minister, highlighted the neglect faced by the fruit industry in Kashmir by both the Central government and the UT administration. He emphasized the industry's crucial role in the local economy yet pointed out the absence of incentives to bolster its growth. Vakil criticized the administration for ignoring the sector's demands, thereby impacting the livelihoods of thousands connected to it. He called on the government to extend necessary support to fruit growers, suggesting that such measures are critical for the industry's revival.

In his appeal, Vakil urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce a special economic package and waive KCC loans for fruit growers, actions he believes would significantly benefit the sector. Moreover, he stressed the importance of confidence-building measures, including the restoration of statehood and employment packages for the youth, ahead of parliamentary elections. Additionally, Asif Lone, District President Baramulla, criticized traditional political parties for their opportunistic tendencies and underscored the need for credible representatives who genuinely address the populace's concerns.
