CEO DP World:

'Red Sea is temporary issue, we can reach CIS countries through Pakistan'

Amidst concerns over Red Sea disruptions due to the recent Houthi attacks, DP World's CEO Sultan bin Sulayem remains optimistic about trade resilience. Speaking at a Dubai Chambers event, he emphasized the adaptability of trade routes, highlighting alternative pathways to the CIS countries via Pakistan, which only take eight days. DP World, with its global port network including four in the Red Sea region, ensures continued operations despite challenges. "Trade is resilient," Sulayem stated, underscoring the temporary nature of the Red Sea issue and the ongoing business in ports located in Djibouti, Somaliland, Egypt, and Jeddah.

Further reinforcing the UAE's commitment to maintaining trade flow, Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, chairman of Dubai Chambers, expressed confidence in finding alternative routes for UAE firms. The recent MoU between DP World and JW Holdings aims to bolster logistics and Special Economic Zones in Pakistan, offering new avenues for trade continuity. Al Ghurair also anticipates a 5% growth in Dubai's economy, highlighting the region's resilience amidst global trade disturbances.
