Dutch company invests in Favor Ready-to-Eat brand

"We want to expand our RTE range"

"We want to keep investing in our Favor Ready-to-Eat brand to ensure growth," says Menno van Utrecht of the Dutch company FruitPro. "Our team ensures that avocados are available year-round. We can thus ripen new supplies every week. By selecting the right suppliers for our Ready-to-Eat brand, we can ripen those throughout the year."

First containers from Peru, Tanzania, and Kenya are en route
"We still have a steady supply of both Greenskin and Hass from Israel and Morocco, and the first containers from Peru, Tanzania, and Kenya are already at sea. The Israeli and Moroccan seasons should end by late March to mid-April, but by then, Peru, Tanzania, and Kenya will be getting going in the market. That guarantees our avocado supply's continuity. We'll also start receiving the first volumes from South Africa in early March. The increase in origin sources on the market will probably stabilize it," Menno reckons.

FruitPro plans to expand its range by ripening new products. "There's a significant demand for Ready-to-Eat products from the hospitality industry and home users. The demand for Ready-to-Eat avocados is growing, driven by the current healthy lifestyle trend. People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, including diet," explains Anna Roos Slurink. "Our Ready-to-Eat concept is based on paying growers fair prices, which lets us contribute to the chain's sustainability. For now, we're solely focused on avocados, but we definitely want to expand our RTE range," she concludes.
