Despite challenging conditions, Landfrisch AG was able to record a twelve percent increase in sales last year compared to the previous year. A significant milestone in the history of the young company was the development of the fruit division. "For us, this was a logical step to leverage maximum synergies to further complement our range. Adding the fruit division makes sense for us and our producers, especially in terms of efficiency and seasonal utilization, and completes our strategic orientation," Labinot Elshani, CEO of Landfrisch AG, explains.

Increases for premium plums
When selecting products and varieties, it was particularly important to the management to occupy topics that represent a unique selling proposition for the group. A highlight was the official launch of the late premium plum Baronesse at Fruchtwelt Bodensee 2023. Elshani: "Here we have developed a consistent concept, from breeding, production to marketing. Due to the special quality and outstanding taste, we are confident that this concept will reach a significantly broader customer base for this product category in the long term."
The concept was developed in close cooperation with Vitamin See Ltd, which holds the variety rights to the premium plum Baronesse. "Together we have committed ourselves to establishing Baronesse in the market. The long-standing acquaintance of the acting person and the same understanding of the type of marketing made this cooperation possible. Currently, there are about 36,000 trees of the Baronesse variety in Germany. This year, another 30,000 trees of Baronesse will be planted in Germany. The continued, gradual cultivation of Baronesse is firmly planned for the coming years. Since not all plants are in full production, the marketing volume of Baronesse plums was still small in 2023," added Johannes von Eerde, board member of Landfrisch AG.

To ensure customers can enjoy taste-intensive plums for a long time, Landfrisch AG has also established a premium plum line parallel to the launch of Baronesse. "All varieties are grown in special cultivation methods by experts. The first season has shown us that the demand for tasty plums as a snack fruit is greater than ever."

Expansion of pear production
In 2023, a premium line for German cherries was also established. "Here too, we focus on selected varieties, cultivation systems, and of course, excellent taste. In the pome fruit sector, we are currently primarily dealing with pears. In addition to standard varieties, we have a large quantity of Novembra pears in our range and have marketed our first true red-skinned pears this season. We are also dealing with bicolor pears; here too, we have a promising variety in our program. The first plantings of the red-skinned and bicolor pears have taken place. We are currently working on the planting plan for these varieties for the coming years."
In addition to all innovations and new developments, the producer organization based in Bergheim naturally also serves the standard assortment. In total, the AG markets the yields of 34 connected fruit farms with a cultivation area of about 800 ha.
