This includes the logistics handling of its own store network as well as that of the food retailers supplied by Alnatura for the fruit & vegetable and dairy product ranges as well as for parts of the dry goods range. Around 20mln packaging units are to be stored, picked and handled at the METRO LOGISTICS sites in Kirchheim, Altlandsberg and Bergkirchen - an extensive collaboration between the two companies.

Discount retailer Pepco to quit Austrian market
European discount retailer Pepco Group has said it will exit the Austrian market, saying it does not expect appropriate returns in the country. The Warsaw-listed owner of the Pepco, Poundland and Dealz brands, which at had 4,832 stores end-December, entered the Austrian market in September 2021 and operates 73 stores in the country.

The discounter has begun to look for investors to build the new shops, which it will then rent from them, stating in a funding pitch it is offering “a unique opportunity to acquire the freehold and fund the construction of 12 supermarkets let to Lidl GB,” The Grocer reported.
