Significant increases in price for fruit included seedless white grapes, lemons and blackberries

Total ad numbers this week were 275,748, a 17% increase from last week's total of 267,447. The total for the same week last year was higher at 286,261. The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 146,385 (53% of all ads), onions and potatoes 28,761 (10%), vegetables 93,513 (34%) and herbs 2,333.

The number of ads for organic produce was 46,281, (17% of total ads.) The following are the prices of major advertised items (3,000 plus ads) this week, compared to the same week last year. Significant increases in price for fruit this week included seedless white grapes at 34%, lemons (each) at 32% and 5.6-6 oz packages of blackberries at 11%.

Significant decreases for fruit included apples per lb at 26%, and apples processed at 10%. There were significant price decreases for 5 lb bag yellow type potatoes at 16% and 5 lb bag russet potatoes at 14%. There are no significant changes in price for other potatoes and onions this week. Significant increases in price for vegetables this week included only asparagus at 18%. There were no significant decreases.
