Following a seven-day hiatus for the Lunar New Year, border gates in Vietnam's Northeastern region have recommenced operations as of February 15. A noticeable queue of container trucks awaiting customs clearance has been observed at these gates.
Despite the holiday period, several Northwestern border gates remained active, witnessing a substantial increase in goods volume. The Lao Cai Province Customs Department highlights that, throughout the Tet celebrations, border gates within the province continued to function, experiencing a spike in goods volume and import-export turnover.
Specifically, at the Kim Thanh Border Gate in Lao Cai City, 61 businesses managed to complete customs clearance for 401 goods declarations, split into 273 for exports and 128 for imports. The primary exports passing through these gates included a variety of fruits such as dragon fruit, durian, watermelon, grapefruit, jackfruit, rambutan, mango, and banana. Conversely, the imports consisted of vegetables and fruits like cabbage, lettuce, garlic, apples, pears, grapes, oranges, and tangerines.
