Onion production boost in Bangladesh

In a recent parliamentary session, Bangladesh's Agriculture Minister, Abdus Shahid, announced a significant upsurge in the nation's onion yield, with an increase of 1 mln tons. This achievement is part of the government's strategic plan to attain self-reliance in onion production, emphasizing the augmentation of summer onion cultivation. The discourse unfolded during a Thanksgiving motion concerning the president's address, where the minister highlighted the government's dedication to agricultural advancement.

A senior member of the ruling party lauded the current administration's emphasis on agricultural output, aligning with Bangabandhu's vision, which has propelled the country's food production to surpass 40 mln tons from approximately 33 mln tons in the 2008-09 fiscal year. The discussion also covered the president's speech, which underscored commendable governance, youth skill development, local government enhancement, indigenous community progress, and national defense. Furthermore, the lawmakers reiterated their commitment to realizing Bangabandhu's vision of 'Sonar Bangla' and applauded Bangladesh's ranking as the 34th burgeoning economy in the Asian Pacific under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership.
