Fruit growers express apprehension over the warm winter, fearing premature blossoming of fruit trees like almonds, peaches, apricots, and plums, which could suffer frost damage, leading to reduced yields for two to three.
Another danger to the crop is pests, which have been revitalized by the unusually warm winter.
Some agricultural experts advise farmers to remain proactive and implement preventive measures such as regular irrigation to maintain soil moisture, thereby delaying the flowering period by 10 to 15 days.
The Ministry of Agriculture acknowledges these challenges, deploying scientists and specialists to affected regions and developing programs to improve water access and agricultural conditions.
