Quarantine alert: European Dodder detected in imported grape batch from Kyrgyzstan

On January 25, specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Office "Grain Quality Assessment Center" conducted a laboratory quarantine examination of a batch of imported grapes from Kyrgyzstan, totalling 20.5 tons. They identified the Cuscuta europaea L., a quarantine object limited to the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Information about the detection of the quarantine object was forwarded to the Krasnoyarsk Krai Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

The applicant was informed about the phytosanitary requirements for quarantine under Russian Federation plant quarantine legislation.

Following the inspection and by Russian legislation, the entire infected batch of grapes was destroyed to prevent the spread of the quarantine weed within the region. This was done through mechanical means, followed by burial in the soil.
