Azerbaijan's president inspects conditions in "Lenk Frut" citrus garden

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan recently visited the Lankaran district to inspect the facilities at the newly established citrus orchard of “Lenk Fruit” LLC. The Director of “Lenk Fruit” LLC, Namig Jabiyev, briefed President Aliyev on the orchard, which covers 150 hectares and hosts 141,000 citrus, peach, and nectarine trees, primarily imported from Türkiye.

The Entrepreneurship Development Fund allocated a preferential loan of 1 million manats (€540,000), while the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency provided an interest-free loan of 148,000 manats. The project, costing 10.7 million manats (€5.8 mln), also saw the installation of 15 special frost-combatting equipment, protecting 9 hectares per unit, with plans to install five more units in the near future.

The orchard focuses on the cultivation of tangerines, lemons, peaches, nectarines, and berries, with an expected productivity of 35-40 tons per hectare. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, the orchard harvested 3,000 tons of crops, with ongoing harvesting efforts. The fruits are not only meeting domestic needs but are also being exported to Russia. The enterprise currently employs 140 people.
