UAE company to invest $30 million in berry farm in Andijan region, Uzbekistan

In a significant move towards agricultural development, a UAE-based company is set to inject $30 million into a berry farming project in the Andijan region, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Uzbekistan.

The agricultural service agency, in collaboration with the Emirati company, will establish a sprawling orchard spanning 470 hectares in the Pakhtaabad district. The initial phase of the project will focus on cultivating blueberries in pots, covering an area of 20 hectares, utilizing a state-of-the-art drip irrigation system.

The long-term vision for the project includes the cultivation of not only blueberries but also raspberries and various vegetables, diversifying the agricultural output of the region.

With a planting density of 4000 bushes per hectare, an estimated harvest of 400–500 tons is expected on average per hectare. To protect the berries from the intense heat, special nets will be installed, ensuring optimal growing conditions.
