The Gloria Group, one of the main business conglomerates in Peru, opened its first operation in Europe through the company Gloria Agro Foods in Holland, which is headquartered in Ridderkerk.
The Gloria Group has a track record of more than 80 years in Peru, being a market leader in various sectors such as dairy products, cement, sugar, alcohol, cardboard and paper products, logistics transportation, among others, both in Peru and in Latin America.
Agrofutura, Agrosanjacinto and Agrocasagrande are the companies specialized in growing the best varieties and qualities of fresh fruits in Peru. In the Year 2017 began with the first fruit tree plantations, having currently more than 2,200 hectares with crops of blueberries, grapes, avocados, lemons and mangoes.
The total area of blueberry crops comprises about 450 hectares, being the main variety "Atlas", followed by "Ventura". The first arrivals of blueberries to Holland have been received in week 50 and will continue until the last week of January 2024. Thereafter we will continue with the European crop until Peru has available crop again.
In relation to grape crops, the season in our Peruvian companies has recently ended, having exported approximately 9 million kilos of white and red seedless grapes to several destinations. We had a good season, in addition, due to the lack of fruit in several markets, we saw increased demand and returns have also been satisfactory.
Regarding avocados, the first shipments are expected to start in early March; quality and size forecasts look promising at this time.
