The Mexican Union of Agrochemical Manufacturers and Formulators (UMFFAAC) and the Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture (AMHPAC) signed a collaboration agreement that seeks to benefit 100,000 workers who work in more than 10,000 horticultural hectares in several states of the Mexican Republic.
The signing of the collaboration instrument took place in Culiacán, Sinaloa and will allow both national organizations to work together for the industry, producers, farm workers and productivity in the field.
The agreement was signed by the president of the UMFFAAC Luis Eduardo González Cepeda and its executive director, César Rafael Ocaña Romo. While, on behalf of the AMHPAC, it was signed by Alfredo Díaz Belmontes, general director and Laura Angulo Paz, administrative director of the organization.
The agreement signing took place in Culiacán, Sinaloa and will allow both national organizations to work together for the industry, producers, farm workers and productivity in the field.
The alliance between UMFFAAC and AMHPAC will result in concrete actions that include:
- Training for AMHPAC members on the responsible use of agrochemicals and action protocols in case of poisoning, which will be taught through both virtual and in-person events.
- Joint organization of events such as forums, training and webinars related to topics such as safety, health, technology and sustainability, among others.
- Facilitation to the AMHPAC for the acquisition of first aid kits for the Intoxication Care Program (ATOX), under the regulations and processes established by UMFFAAC.
Additionally, this collaboration will promote the development of the agrochemical industry and the promotion of safe practices in the use of pesticides.
AMHPAC represents nearly 300 companies in 22 states of the Mexican Republic, related to the production, packaging, distribution and marketing of fresh vegetables. The associated companies manage more than 10,000 protected hectares and generate more than 100,000 jobs, of which 38 percent are permanent and 62 percent temporary.
UMFFAAC, with more than 40 years of history, is a civil association founded by Mexican businesspeople and has grown with the addition of prominent companies that supply phytosanitary products. Its main objective is the promotion and development of the chemical and organic phytosanitary industry, plant nutrition and pest control, both urban and industrial and public health. The UMFFAAC has programs related to InTOXications (ATOX), Responsible Use of Agrochemicals (PURA), Campaign against illegal phytosanitary inputs and the Campo Limpio Program, through Amocali, A.C.
