Ecocool Ltd is further expanding its range of thermal covers for the transport protection of temperature-sensitive pallet goods. In addition to the tried-and-tested models for pharmaceuticals, chemicals and construction, Ecocool launched ECO-BREATH, the first product for food transportation, at the beginning of 2023. Just in time for the start of the winter season, Ecocool is now publishing a complete catalog for the thermal hood portfolio for the first time. In it, the manufacturer from Bremerhaven explains how the protective hoods work and the specifications of the individual products. It also describes the climate chamber tests that all thermal hoods have to undergo.
There is a great need for information and advice, because in the first few weeks of the cold season, hoods for frost protection in non-temperature-controlled trucks are particularly in demand. "With our complete catalog, we now offer our customers a good overview of the various models," says Ecocool Managing Director Dr. Florian Siedenburg. "The product spectrum ranges from the flexible ECO-LIGHT disposable hood to the reusable ECO-SAFE solution and the premium ECO-SAFE+ and ECO-XTREME models. Currently, the variants for protection on curtainside trucks and curtainsider trailers are of particular interest. With the help of our thermal hoods, solvent-free paints and other frost-sensitive chemicals can be shipped safely by land even in winter."
The ECO-LIGHT entry-level model is a lightweight disposable hood made of bubble wrap, laminated on one side with aluminum foil. This inexpensive frost protection hood is packed in a particularly space-saving manner and is therefore economical to transport and store. ECO-LIGHT has proven itself in practice for years with haulage companies and customers from the chemical industry. Siedenburg continues: "Our discussions with customers and the large number of recurring annual orders confirm the excellent function of our thermal cover as frost protection packaging in land transportation."

The new thermal hood for food: ECO-BREATH available since the beginning of 2023
The new "ECO-BREATH" thermal hood has been developed on the basis of Ecocool's proven technology and adapted to the requirements of food logistics. The hood consists of micro-perforated film on a tear- and puncture-resistant PP fabric. The reflective film layers insulate very effectively and thus protect the goods from heat and frost damage. The micro-perforated structure helps to dissipate ethylene resulting from ripening processes and thus prevents ethylene-related product ageing. In addition, the micro-perforation improves the exchange of humidity on the goods in the event of strong temperature fluctuations and thus prevents the formation of condensation. It extends the shelf life and reduces temperature damage along the logistics chain.
ECO-SAFE is the standard solution for disposable or reusable use made of double-layer bubble wrap, laminated on both sides with aluminum foil. It is used as a reusable cover in food and chemical distribution as well as for large areas of pharmaceutical air freight.
