Brazilian researchers create applications that facilitate spraying and crop monitoring

The Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (Epamig) has been participating in the development of applications to help synchronize spraying in citrus growing areas to combat greening. The prototypes were presented by researchers Margarete Volpato (coffee growing) and Ester Ferreira (citrus growing), at Fapemig de Portas Abertas, promoted by the development institution, in Belo Horizonte.

The App for citrus fruits is developed by Epamig researcher Ester Ferreira, together with a professor at the Federal University of Lavras (Ufla), Paulo Afonso Parreira Júnior, and with the Computer Science graduate, also from Ufla, Gustavo Gabriel Martins, by through the project “Management alternatives for citrus farming in Grenning endemic areas in Minas Gerais”.

Ester Ferreira explains that the name of the application comes from the initials of Referencing, Spatialization and Greening Management Technology (Train). The objective is to scale the tool, to assist in the management of greening and spraying to combat the psyllid, the insect vector of the disease.
