DP World restarts operations after cyber attack

Australia's largest ports operator, DP World Australia, has commenced a gradual restart of its operations after a cyberattack compromised its network. The company closed its port operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Fremantle after discovering the breach on Friday, causing delays in cargo and containers handling. DP World Australia disconnected its internet to halt unauthorized access to its network, but it also affected key systems linked to port operations. As of Monday, limited operations resumed, with Brisbane and Fremantle ports processing imports and exports, while Sydney and Melbourne ports were dealing with imports only according to www.theguardian.com/australia

Paul Zalai, Director of the Freight and Trade Alliance, mentioned that DP World informed some members that it might take another two weeks before they can accept export cargo at Sydney's Port Botany. This delay could have significant repercussions for operators, with one regional exporter reportedly having 300 containers stuck at one port.
