With three medium-sized supermarkets and a brand new large stand (Cristal) at the Cesena wholesale market, Alessandro Moretti shows just how much he believes in fresh produce.

"I am very pleased with this additional step, which strengthens our position in our sector. I have been working in the field for the past 30 years and I have always put fruit and vegetables first in my stores. Thanks to this stand, we now have a platform in a very important market and I believe we will grow further," explains Moretti.

Moretti's supermarket chain is called "EccoMi" and is part of the Coal group. The President of the group Carlo Palmieri also attended the inauguration. "Our cooperative gathers over 300 stores in the Marche, Abruzzo, Romagna, Lazio and Umbria regions and in the Republic of San Marino. Moretti is our northernmost member and he aims at shortening the chain, a target I have been interested in for years. It is not by chance that we have a packaging facility for the produce collected from our producers and which we then distribute."

Cristal covers approx. 350 sq m in an area of the market where things had slowed down a bit due to the downsizing of a historic wholesalers. Moretti has contacts all over Italy, which showed during the inauguration, as many buyers who had not been at the Cesena facility in a long time wanted to attend.
Pleased with the opening of Cristal, the sole administrator of the market Alessandro Giunchi commented that "the arrival of a new entrepreneur is synonym with development and growth, especially in the case of Moretti, who decided to invest in an area that can only grow further. As a market, we want to provide all services to support our dealers and businesses, as we are aware of the importance markets play in the fresh produce sector."
