Harvesting of potatoes has concluded in various regions of Russia

The Kostroma region experienced a significant increase in potato yields this year, reaching 276 quintals per hectare, marking a 20% improvement from the previous season. The total harvest amounted to 51 thousand tons, utilizing a total area of 1872 hectares for potato cultivation.

The Sverdlovsk region achieved a record-breaking potato harvest of 259.8 thousand tons, averaging 184.9 quintals per hectare. This notable achievement surpassed the figures from 2022 by 51.5 quintals per hectare.

Buryatia also reported a successful potato harvest, with agricultural organizations gathering 32,100 tons from an area of 1500 hectares. This surpassed last year's figures by 4900 tons, with an average yield of 210 quintals per hectare, reflecting a 17.4% increase from 2022.

Organic potatoes were grown on a farm located in the Orenburg region. The farm specializes in cultivating organic vegetables and showcases its harvest at exhibitions in various countries, including China and Dubai. This year, the farm established an experimental planting field for blue organic potatoes. The first harvest has already been collected, and the seeds are stored for planting next year. The potatoes have an exotic appearance with dark purple skin and a matching hue in the flesh. However, information about the taste qualities of the product is not provided.
