Banana heir Noboa wins Ecuador's presidency

After a decisive win over his opponent Luisa Gonzalez, centrist and heir to a banana fortune Daniel Noboa will be Ecuador's next president. Daniel is the son of past presidential candidate Alvaro Noboa.

He has proposed seeking more private-sector energy investment in projects such as improving the country's three refineries to reduce the need for fuel imports. Noboa will need to make political alliances in the one-chamber national assembly in which Gonzalez's party holds 50 out of 137 seats.
