Week 41 Fruit Wholesale Market Report

Chilean avocados are on the market, and Dutch green conference pears are arriving

After the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the number of people in the fruit market decreased and the market was generally unspectacular. Some newly launched fruits have attracted more attention: Chilean avocados are on the market, and Dutch green conference pears have arrived in small quantities.

Chilean avocados were launched in early October, and the current size of #22 is about ¥140/piece. Merchants said that the cost of arrival has increased this year, and the selling price is higher than the same period last year. There is still a small amount of Peruvian avocados on sale at the end of the season, and the price is lower than Chilean avocados. The new season of domestically produced avocados has begun. Some merchants mentioned that a small amount had arrived in the market earlier, but the quality was not as good as expected, causing the selling price to fall rapidly. Merchants have become cautious in purchasing, and there are currently fewer domestically produced avocados on sale.

The arrival of Peruvian blueberries has increased since mid-September, and so far, the arrival volume and price have remained roughly the same. Currently, 14mm+ blueberries are sold for about ¥110-120/piece. Most of the varieties arriving are Ventura, which has a sour taste. The arrival of Sekoya Pop variety, which is popular for its sweet taste, has increased but is still not so much. The price of 18mm+ of this variety has dropped from ¥250-260/piece at the peak to about ¥140-150/piece now. The Magica variety with a crispy and sweet taste is also popular, but there are fewer arrivals and the price is higher than Pop. Most of them have been ordered by dealers when they arrive, so there are fewer sales in the market.

Some merchants said that the current arrival of Peruvian blueberries is about 50% less than in previous years. The price is high and the taste is sour, which makes the overall sales slow. On the other hand, due to weather conditions in the production area this year, some blueberries were picked after rain and encountered high temperatures. They were damaged upon arrival and could only be sold at a price of tens of yuan per piece. It is understood that the overall arrival of blueberries has decreased in recent days.

Vietnamese dragon fruit

The dragon fruit production season in Vietnam has begun. It is understood that from a few days before the Mid-Autumn Festival to the first half of the long holiday, the demand has increased, and the price and sales volume have been ideal. As the holiday effect fades, arrivals continue to increase, and affected by the recent news that domestically produced dragon fruits are "large in volume and low in price", the recent selling price has fallen by about 15%, and sales have been slow. The domestic dragon fruit season will basically end at the end of this month, and merchants hope that the Vietnamese dragon fruit market will improve by then.

Dutch Green Conference Pear

The first batch of Dutch conference pears of this season arrived at the market on Friday (13 October) and attracted the attention of merchants. The arrival specifications are #18 and #20. The arrival quantity is small, and it is basically pre-order sales.

The most popular imported stone fruit currently on sale is the Autumn Honey plum imported from Spain, which has a sweet taste. It is reported that a container of plums that arrived before the Mid-Autumn Festival has been sold out immediately. The arrivals have increased in recent days. The current price of #27 is about ¥140/piece. According to information from merchants, the volume arriving this season is more than last year. After the holidays and now, the market is stable, and the overall sales are slow.

In terms of domestic fruits, Xinjiang Xiangbin apples, which were popular in the market last year, are not as good as expected this year, with both arrival volume and price being lower than last year. At present, due to the different quality between different merchants, the prices are not regulated. Merchants said that the taste of small apples is not much different from last year, but the demand this year is not high and the market lacks popularity. In addition, grapefruit produced in Fujian has been put on the market this month.
