Late variety CREA 105 is getting increasingly popular all over the world and especially in Italy. "It is a crossbreed from 1989 obtained from Forum and Lady Williams, boasting a red color on 90% of the peel, a sweet flavor and a crunchy and aromatic flesh (Fuji type), reports technician Enrico Zanzi.
To showcase it, Vivai F.lli Zanzi is organizing an open day at the orchard on October 20th, 2023 starting from 9.30 a.m. (Via del Gorgo 137, Loc. Gorgo di Fossanova San Marco, 44124 Ferrara) to better get to know the plants and the characteristics of the variety.

"Experimentation started in 2015 and, after 5 tears of positive results, we obtained the world exclusive from CREA Forlì. CREA 105 is a variety suitable for all areas, especially in the plain where it is harder to achieve the right color."
The vigor is lower than Fuji, with a constant high production that does not alternate even if subjected to extreme productions. Plus is it not subject to cracking. Ripening occurs 8 days after Fuji, with a high shelf-life and the possibility of storage in cold units for up to 10 months. The variety is currently being assessed by Consorzio Mela Più at Fondazione Navarra.

Technical details
CREA 105 is a selection that was obtained in 1989 by the then CRA-FRF (former Istituto Sperimentale per la Frutticoltura - SOP in Forlì, now CREA Centro di ricerca Olivicoltura, Frutticoltura e Agrumicoltura) by crossing Forum and Lady Williams. It was selected in 1997 in Magliano di Forlì (FC). Community right application no. 20183478 made on 11/01/2019. Breeders: Walther Faedi, Mauro Bergamaschi, Gianluca Baruzzi.
The flesh is very crunchy, medium-juicy, with a rather firm texture, a good sweet yet acidic flavor and a good aroma. The harvesting window is rather wide.
