AID-Oranfresh, latest-generation wind machines

New wind machines to be delivered to northern Italy

In the months of October and November, AID-Oranfresh, an Italian company that produces anti-frost wind machines, will deliver the first 30 specimens to Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna.

Salvatore Torrisi

A.I.D. (Agriculture Industrial Development) has been operating in the anti-frost technology sector for over 50 years with considerable investments in R&D thanks to the American training of its founder and CEO Salvatore Torrisi, which have led to the creation of a new model of anti-frost wind machine.

"Our latest introduction is the WMD170 Polyguard carted wind machine, of which we have already sold a few units that will be installed in winter and spring to protect orchards from frost."

The advantage of a carted machine is that it can be used without planning permission: it can be placed in the most effective location in terms of protection from the frost in relation to the direction of the main breeze during the frost episode under way. In particular, the new nozzles ensure high particle micronization: even though they are more sensitive to breeze and its night-time variations, automatic treatments can be suspended thanks to automation and digital systems 4.0 if the weather makes it necessary (e.g. if the night breeze exceeds a speed of 0.3/0.4 m per second."

"Polyguards are perfect when it comes to phytosanitary treatments against lemon dry rot which, over the past few years, has heavily damaged Sicilian lemon cultivation and the containment of which could represent a breakthrough. Our defense method with Polyguard will enable the performance of prompt treatments when the environmental, temperature and humidity conditions are favorable to the onset of infections."

"Innovative treatments employ new copper nano-particles which are very effective against mushroom spore germinations. They are new-generation formulas which, if administered promptly, can contribute to blocking the onset of the diseases. Polyguard is also crucial when the soil is wet after it has been raining and it is impossible to intervene with atomizers. The latest R&D project concerns an electric fan, which will soon lead to a product that will enable us to increase our range and thus meet the increasing demand."

AID-Oranfresh also provides the chance to install a motorless anti-frost wind machine fed by an agricultural machine owned by the client such as a tractor. The power necessary is at least 160 Hp.

All new wind machines are entirely inter-connected with the management systems of our clients, they are in fact 4.0 certified and so our clients have the possibility of obtaining tax credit. The range currently includes models WMD170 (carted Polyguard), WMD170, WMD230, WMD170 or WMD230 (reclining).
