The company will present them at this year's Fruit Attraction

Planasa has two new winter and double-harvest raspberry varieties, and an extra-early day-neutral strawberry variety

"Planasa will, once again, attend Fruit Attraction, one of the fruit and vegetable sector's most important annual events. It will do so during a campaign that will consolidate the good results offered by its new RedSayra and Red Samantha strawberry varieties, which are facing their second commercial year. Producers in the Mediterranean area have practically immediately accepted these varieties because of their rusticity, precocity, and productivity. Not surprisingly, the area of strawberries planted with these varieties in Huelva and Italy will double and triple, respectively, for this 2023/2024 campaign."

Michael Brinkmann, Planasa's CEO.

“RedSayra is an extra-early short-day strawberry variety, with high linear production throughout the season. It bears a conically shaped, sweet-tasting, large-sized fruit. Its skin is firm and durable, ensuring a long lifespan. Meanwhile, Red Samantha is a very productive and rustic strawberry variety, which has shown good performance in its second year."

The company has recently added the Plared 15105 new strawberry variety to complement the range for the Mediterranean arc. "It is a new neutral day variety focused on extra-precocity for winter production that is showing excellent results."

"Regarding raspberries, the company is currently launching the new Pink Hudson (Plapink 14103) and Plapink 14116 varieties. They are also being launched under the Planasa Genetics brand."

The Pink Hudson variety is very suitable for winter. It yields very high-quality fruit that is very easy to harvest. This variety also has great potential for double harvesting, with a high production yield throughout the entire cycle.

"The Plapink 14116 variety is focused on double harvest. It has a very high precocity in the second harvest that allows it to produce from the tenth week of the year. It is a very productive variety, just like the Pink Hudson, and has a high concentration of fruit, which makes it easier to collect."

"Meanwhile, Planasa's blueberry catalog is made up of six varieties. The most prominent varieties are Blue Manila, thanks to its precocity and appearance, and Blue Maldiva, which offers a jumbo-sized fruit. Both are working very well in different locations around the world, most recently in southern Africa."

Planasa also continues to carry out its own avocado improvement program and continues to work with two of its most traditional products, garlic and asparagus.
