The Belgian Competition Authority (BMA) has given BelOrta's acquisition of the Belgische Fruitveiling (BFV) the go-ahead. On September 11, 2023, the BMA approved how much sole control BelOrta gains of BFV, they report.
In its decision, the BMA states that the conditions for applying the simplified procedure were met and that the notified concentration did not raise any objections.
Philippe Appeltans, BelOrta's director, is satisfied and responded in Nieuwsblad, saying: "We've been working hard on this take-over for two years and are happy to have now passed the last crucial hurdle. We were sure the BMA would approve, but it's always a matter of wait-and-see. In the coming weeks, we can finalize everything so the acquisition is wholly in the bag on October 1."
