A new introduction by La Grande Bellezza Italiana

Mela Rossa di Cuneo IGP-branded Gala apples

La Grande Bellezza Italiana has always focused on PGI marks and the promotion of both the origin and the characteristics of these products to get them known to a wider public and increase the profitability of companies.

"We have been focusing on PGI marks, identifying recognizable products and backing up what stated. It is not always easy to convey the value of some products: our strategy is to promote fruit of excellent quality that holds a territorial identification," explains Leonardo Odorizzi, member of the LGBI network.

The latest introduction is the Mela Rossa di Cuneo IGP-branded Gala apple, which LGBI has just inserted in its selection and which will become available on September 4th. "I believe this is one of the first times Gala is promoted as a PGI product. Gala apples are grown in many areas worldwide, but only those from Piedmont boast this mark."

The strict parameters it must comply with include Brix level and acidity, which must be balanced. "It does not make sense to talk about just one parameter, e.g. the Brix level, if it is not considered in relation to acidity. La Grande Bellezza Italiana is getting more and more recognition in Italy and abroad also because we do not just focus on the PGI label, as the mark is a guarantee of the production and post-harvest path that supplies consumers with fruit that is good to eat."

Other collaborations with PGIs concern IGP Pesca di Verona IGP and Uva di Puglia Igp. "We have been collaborating with the Uva di Puglia Igp consortium since mid-August and I would like to thank the managers because it has been very fruitful for both. La Grande Bellezza Italiana was born as a business network to please both producers and consumers."
