High-density apple harvest starts in Pulwama district

The harvest of high-density apples is currently underway in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. With the implementation of the high-density planting system, farmers in this region are witnessing increased apple yields as they plant more trees per unit area. This innovative method ensures better fruit quality and higher productivity. Due to its favorable climatic conditions and fertile soil, Pulwama has gained recognition as a hub for apple orchards. The district's unique geography and weather patterns create the perfect environment for apple cultivation.

The harvesting period usually begins in August and extends until October. The high-density planting system intensifies the labor required for harvesting as there is a larger quantity of fruit to be collected within a relatively small area. Once picked, the apples are promptly sorted and packed for transportation to various markets within and outside the region.
