E.Leclerc arrives in Luxembourg with the acquisition of Cora, Match and Smatch from Louis Delhaize

Following Carrefour's acquisition of Cora and Match in France, it is now E.Leclerc's turn to acquire its share of the Delhaize Group, this time in Luxembourg.

On July 20th, E.Leclerc and Louis Delhaize announced that they had signed an agreement for the acquisition of “2 hypermarkets and 25 supermarkets and convenience stores” from Cora, Match and Smatch in Luxembourg. This will provide the French retailer with “new growth opportunities.”

“For E.Leclerc, this operation will strengthen its presence on the competitive European market, in formats it has mastered and in a country where it was not present yet.”

“The E.Leclerc supply center for the French East region will strengthen and support the Luxembourg operations.”

The effective acquisition of Cora, Match and Smatch Luxembourg is expected to take place in the last quarter of 2023.
