Amazon wants to open a distribution centre in the Netherlands of 100,000 square metres. The ecommerce giant has been operating there since 2015 and has had a Dutch online store since 2020. Currently, it delivers most orders from a delivery centre at Schiphol Airport, while its products come from Germany. So with its own distribution centre, this should change. UK: Ocado keeps guidance after return to first-half underlying profit
Ocado, the British online supermarket and technology group, kept its financial guidance for the year as it reported a return to underlying profit in its first half. The group, whose shares surged last month after a report of possible takeover interest from Amazon, made earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 16.6mln pounds ($21.7mln) in the six months to May 28, versus a loss of 13.6mln a year earlier. Tim Steiner, the chief executive of Ocado said he had nothing to say when asked about speculation of a takeover by U.S. group Amazon.

UK: Amazon staff at Rugeley vote for strike action over pay
Workers at a second Amazon site have voted to take strike action over pay. More than 100 GMB union members at the firm's centre in Rugeley, Staffordshire, are set to walk out after 86% of those who voted backed the strike, the union said.
