ProEcuador reported that at the beginning of July, the Ecuadorian company Pitabel managed to enter yellow and red pitahaya, as well as the pomegranates to France for the first time. The Ecuadorian company Equadragon Fruit Company exported red pitahaya to a new customer in the United States, a country that is currently the main market for Ecuadorian fruit, accounting for 84% of the total volume exported, followed by Canada, Colombia, and Singapore.
In addition, the Palora Exporter company from Morona Santiago concluded a yellow pitahaya negotiation with a new client in Canada.
And more recently, Gran Fruta Company, a Quito-based company, exported yellow and red pitahaya, and pomegranates to a new customer in the Netherlands.
It's worth noting that in 2023 China became a new market for Ecuadorian pitahaya. According to the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment, and Fisheries four exporting companies from Palora, in the province of Morona Santiago, shipped the first 7,745 kilograms of pitahaya that the country sent to China.
In 2022, Ecuador exported more than 23,000 tons of pitahaya worth more than $99 million.
The country continues to negotiate with other countries so it can export this fruit to more markets. In June of this year, Ecuador and Peru held a binational business conference focused on pitahaya in Lima, Peru. The event was attended by ten Peruvian companies interested in this Ecuadorian fruit and nine national companies.
