Special edition of Agro em Dados de Julho highlights Goiás mango and passion fruit production

Fruit growing is the main topic of the July issue of monthly technical bulletin Agro em Dados. This issue highlights mangoes and passion fruit, the production of which is the focus of the first stage of the Irrigated Fruit Growing Project in Vai do Paranã, in Northeast Goiás.

Among other information, the publication shows that, in 2021, the State produced a total of 6,300 tons of passion fruit and 2,600 tons of mango. This performance placed Goiás in 16th and 13th positions in the ranking of the largest state producers, respectively.

Carmo do Rio Verde was the main producer of passion fruit among the municipalities of Goiás. Cristalina emerged as the largest producer of mango. The information was extracted from the 2021 Municipal Agricultural Survey, the last one made available by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and analyzed by Seapa's Market Intelligence Management.

The Irrigated Fruit Growing Project of the Vao do Paranã foresees the production of 4,200 tons of passion fruit and 6,000 tons of mango per cycle, starting from the second and third years of implantation of the cultures, respectively.
