Believed to be smuggled in from Cambodia

Thai officials seized durians in Sa Kaeo province

Late last week, Thai customs officials seized 8.4 tons of durian, which is suspected to have been smuggled from Cambodia for sale in Thailand in Wang Somboon district of Sa Kaeo province. Officials deployed at a checkpoint in front of Wang Somboon Hospital became suspicious of a six-wheel truck as it approached and stopped it for a search. They found durian worth about 1.17 million baht (€30,000).

The driver of the truck could not produce a document specifying the origin of the fruit, so the driver, who is expected to be charged, and the durian were escorted to the customs office in Aranyaprathet district.
