Agricultural company Planasa, which operates in Huelva, from its logistics center in Cartaya, and is the biggest Spanish player regarding red berries, has just started selling. This was announced by El Economista, which defines the operation as "the biggest competitive process of the year for the venture capital market in Spain". Regarding the price, the figure of 1,000 million euros is being considered.
The auction is controlled by JP Morgan and they expect significant competition among the international managers that have already shown their (financial) desire to take over the group.
Planasa has 4.000 employees and operates in 25 countries, highlighting its presence in the red fruit sector from Huelva (Cartaya). It is the second major operation that is played in Huelva's agricultural sector. Less than two years ago, the Chilean company Hortifrut, the second marketer of berries and the first of blueberries in the world, took over the company AtlanticBlue. The operation that monopolizes the company based in Huelva was carried out for an amount of 280 million dollars.
