Peru's lime campaign goes through a bump after a successful start

After a successful start of the 2023 Peruvian lime campaign, in recent weeks it's gone through a rough patch that has broken the good streak that this citrus was having.

Specifically, during week 22, shipments totaled about 343 tons, which is 24% less than what was shipped in the same week of the previous year. Despite this, the accumulated of the year reaches 17,222 tons, ie. 23% more than in 2022.

In week 22, shipments reached five destinations, the most outstanding of which were the Netherlands, with a 34% share (116 tons); the United States, with 30% (102 tons); and the United Kingdom, with 15% (51 tons).

Only eight companies exported lemon from Peru. Exports were led by Camposol SA, with a 27% stake, followed by Ecosac AgrĂcola SAC, with a 23% share, and Trapani Cultivares PerĂș SAC, with 22%.

Nearly 99% of the volume shipped was exported via the port of Paita.
