Colombia authorizes 39 properties to export mango to the United States and Europe

"Colombian mango exports to the European Union and the United States peak between March and August. In these months, Colombia will ship more than 200 tons of fruit from 39 small and medium-sized farms in five departments, which have been authorized to export this fruit by Colombia's Agricultural Institute (ICA)."

“The country will export sugar mango, Tommy, and Keitt mango varieties harvested in farms located in the departments of Magdalena, Valle del Cauca, Cordoba, Cesar, Cundinamarca, and Tolima. The ICA has guided the producers in compliance with the phytosanitary measures related to the monitoring of fruit flies to achieve entry to these markets.”

“In the case of the United States, the ICA carries out official verification and monitoring of fruit flies at the production sites, from 30 days prior to harvest until the end of the harvest, in accordance with the protocol established by both countries to guarantee its compliance.”

"With regard to mango exports to the European Union, the ICA carries out supervision and monitoring activities of the fruit fly systems approach, in accordance with the provisions of the European Commission, without the application of additional quarantine treatments."

"In addition, Colombia has 160 farms registered with the ICA to export mangoes to other destinations, each with its own requirements, such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Canada, Switzerland, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Russia."

“In 2022, Colombia exported nearly 1,000 tons of fresh mango to all destinations. This year, the ICA and the producers aim to export 30% more than last year.”
