The first Royal Gala apples are underway from South America to Cesil Import & Export in the Netherlands. "There are currently hardly any Chilean red Gala apples. So, I'm proud to have scooped these up," says Silvia Piezzi.
This season, she is partnering with Chilean apple exporter, Cespyfruit. "Chile's growing conditions were good. The warm weather means the apples have a nice color and size. Their quality is also better than previous years."
Sylvia is not concerned about demand. "Customers like Royal Galas and I'm already getting plenty of demand from Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, and other EU countries," she concludes.
Sylvia, an Argentinian entrepreneur, is no stranger to the Dutch fruit and vegetable trade sector. She has worked at the Barendrecht trading center for many years. Sylvia is also working hard in South America, preparing for the new top fruit season.
