The Peruvian Áncash region exported more than 4,400 tons of organic avocado during the months of January to July 2022. The main producing areas are located in the Nepeña valley, and the provinces of Santa and Casma, where farmers have tended to produce a crop more ecological and healthy.
According to figures from Adex, processed by the Service for Integral Development (Sedir), the amount exported from Áncash represents 63% of the more than 7,007 tons that Peru sold to different countries in the world. Other regions that exported avocado are: Lima with 1,075 tons (15%), Ica with 249 tons (4%), Lambayeque with 43 tons (1%) and Cerro de Pasco with 24 tons. The fruit was sold to the United States, Europe and Asia. The amount of the export exceeded 14,923,000 dollars.
