China's garlic exports break 200,000 tons for the first time in July

At the end of August, the garlic transaction outside the storage is entering the final stage. According to customs data, the export of garlic was gratifying in July this year. Since the beginning of this year, the export volume of garlic exceeded 200,000 tons for the first time.

Relevant data shows that China's garlic exports were 241,600 tons in July 2022, with a total export value of $231.89 million. Among them, the quantity of fresh or refrigerated garlic was about 217,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of about 31.45% compared with the export volume of 165,400 tons in the same period last year. The total export value was US$175,863,400, a year-on-year increase of about 4.02% compared with the US$169,070,800 in the same period last year.

In July 2022, the top ten destinations of China's exported fresh or refrigerated garlic included Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Pakistan, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Russia.

The average purchase price of garlic outside the storage during the harvest season in 2020 was about 3.44 yuan/kg. Similarly, the increase in garlic exports this year also has the same advantage of low price. The average purchase price of garlic in July this year was around 3.84 yuan/kg, laying a good foundation for the positive growth of garlic exports.

It was the peak season for garlic trading in July, and the huge increase in export volume also showed that the international market had a strong demand for Chinese garlic.
