Their focus on environmental priorities is clear with their sustainably grown bananas and through their care and optimisation of natural resources.
One Banana have invested in improving technologies for irrigation to manage water usage and improve fertilisation methods in the field, aiming for a reduction in both of 25%. Additionally, 80% of their banana plants are composted for use as organic matter. Their focus on banana ingredients allows them to close the loop on banana surplus with the production of the highest quality puree, flakes and powder. Thanks to their reforestation programs, they have increased their natural reserves to 1,000+ hectares.
The banana ingredients J.O. Sims will now be able to supply include banana flakes, powder and puree. These ingredients have multiple functions and applications including infant foods, cereal bars, bakery goods and even sports nutrition – a growing market around the world but especially in the UK. The banana ingredients carry the same great nutritional attributes as a raw banana including being a good source of fibre, potassium, magnesium, biotin & vitamin C.
