Indian Institute of Horticulture and Research releases two sweet pummelo varieties

The Indian Institute of Horticulture and Research (IIHR) has identified and released two sweet pummelo varieties- Arka Chandra and Arka Anantha. Both varieties are suitable for all citrus growing areas of the country.

The pummelos are medium dwarf variety and can be planted at the spacing of 5x5m and respond well to the application of fertilizers, while both the varieties bear fruits in two seasons -- February-March and August-September -- profusely. On an average, four-year-old plants can yield 80-100 fruits/year.
